It is vitally important for our business success that our products have as little negative impact on the environment as possible. Our many years of work in this area, combined with our unique environmental portfolio, show that we have long been successful with our approach and that we have a considerable wealth of experience to build on. Nevertheless, we are in no way letting up in our efforts as we work to make product-related environmental protection as efficient as possible.
That’s why in August 2009 we combined the management organizations for environmental protection, health management and occupational health and safety, which had proven themselves at Siemens through many years of operation, and created the joint corporate unit “Environmental Protection, Health Management and Safety” (EHS). Global enterprise-wide product-related environmental protection also profits from the creation of the unit, since this organizational form was rolled out at the corporate level but also company-wide.
The requirements on the EHS organization are laid down in the globally binding environmental protection, health management and safety principles (EHS) and are defined in individual guidelines, e.g. that for industrial and product-related environmental protection. These principles are currently being revised.

In addition, EHS processes have been defined in the Siemens Reference Process House in a process area dedicated specifically to EHS.
To ensure that corporate requirements regarding product-related environmental protection are implemented in a way that is coordinated worldwide, there is a globally binding guideline containing the following requirements, among others:
In working to meet the targets of product-related environmental protection, this management approach creates a clear sense of awareness throughout the entire company. The basis for this is dedicated support of our executives at all levels of management.
