young Europeans began training at Siemens in Berlin in August 2012 as part of a pilot project.
In the European Union one in four young persons is neither in work nor in training. The Europeans@Siemens initiative makes a small contribution to combating unemployment.
29 young Europeans from 14 EU countries have been sent to Berlin by their regional company where they receive training in the electrical/electronics and mechatronics profession (training period: 3.5 years). Training involves a mix of practical and theoretical sessions. The project was started in Berlin, one of the largest Siemens training locations in Germany.
The young Europeans, who return to their home countries on completion of training, come from Belgium, Estonia, France, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and the Czech Republic. The annual costs of this project amount to around €4.5 million.
