On December 9, 2009, Siemens has launched a global US$100 million Siemens Integrity Initiative which will support organizations and projects that fight corruption and fraud through Collective Action, education and training. The Initiative will focus on supporting projects that have a clear impact on the business environment, can demonstrate objective and measurable results and have the potential to be scaled up and replicated. The Siemens Initiative is part of the World Bank-Siemens AG comprehensive settlement that was agreed on July 2, 2009.
The funds provided by Siemens will be allocated in several funding rounds over 15 years. The first funding round started on December 9, 2009. Applications for funding had to be submitted to Siemens by January 31, 2010. Projects and organizations were selected through a two-stage review and due diligence process. The World Bank Group will have audit rights over the use of these funds and veto rights over the selection of anticorruption groups or programs receiving funds.
