Siemens' central research department and the electric vehicle manufacturer StreetScooter agreed today to equip an electric car with an innovative electronic and software architecture. The associated technology was developed during the RACE project. Siemens is the consortium leader of the research project, which receives funding from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. For the first time ever, the architecture will make it possible to retrofit functions such as electrical brakes and systems such as lane-keeping assistants using a plug-and-play process like on home PCs.

Siemens Healthcare is selling its microbiology business to Beckman Coulter Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation. The activities of the microbiology business include systems for the identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing (ID/AST) of microorganisms.

Olaf Bolduan (61), Chairman of the Works Council at the Dynamowerk Berlin, has been appointed by the Charlottenburg District Court (Berlin) as an employee representative on the Supervisory Board. Bolduan was proposed by the Central Works Council and the Assembly of Delegates of IG Metall to succeed Lothar Adler, who retired at the end of May 2014 and accordingly left the Supervisory Board. "I would like to welcome Mr. Bolduan on behalf of all the members of the

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Siemens today submitted an offer letter specifying further the proposed transaction to Alstom. With the specified offer MHI and Siemens reaffirm their commitment to strengthen Alstom as an independent Global Player in Energy and Transport. After extensive discussions with all stakeholders over the past days MHI and Siemens reviewed their proposal with regards to reducing complexity, strengthening execution and narrowing risk exposure.

As part of the planned acquisition of the gas business of Alstom, Siemens AG has announced its intention to provide training for an additional 1,000 French young people over the next few years. The additional training positions will include both technical and administrative professions. Siemens will invest about €32,000 annually for each trainee. Siemens President and CEO Joe Kaeser made this commitment at a meeting with French President François Hollande on Tuesday.

Pursuant to this, MHI and Siemens propose several transactions in order to preserve Alstom's current perimeter in almost all its activities, enhance its industrial sustainability, strengthen its position as a diversified global player in energy and transport, and strengthen its financial structure, while remaining a major French listed group. The proposal is also very beneficial for Alstom employees. Furthemore it will foster job creation in France.
