With effect from June 1, 2012 Jörg Grotendorst will take charge of the Business Unit "Inside e-Car" headquartered in Erlangen, which provides components and systems for the electrical drive train in automobiles.
42 years old and a graduate engineer, Jörg Grotendorst started his career 16 years ago at Daimler AG and later joined Ford. Since 2000 he has held various management positions with the automotive parts company Continental in Hanover, Nuremberg and Regensburg. He built up the Hybrid & Electric Vehicles Business Unit in Nuremberg and was most recently in charge of Strategy & Technology in the Powertrain Division of Continental in Regensburg.
He succeeds Ralf-Michael Franke, CEO of the Drive Technologies Division, who has been serving as acting head of Inside e-Car. "In Jörg Grotendorst we are gaining a top-class expert with a comprehensive track record in the automotive industry. He also possesses extensive knowledge relevant to the electrical drive train, batteries, power electronics and motors. He is therefore the right choice to further expand our electromobility activities and to position Siemens as a system supplier", commented Ralf-Michael Franke.
