Outside Moscow, a new city of science is being created: Skolkovo. Its open nature is to attract scientists from Russia and abroad alike. In the future, they will carry out research on topics such as information technology, biotechnology, energy efficiency, medical technology, nuclear technology, and aerospace.
The "Hypercube" (pictured) is a cube-shaped futuristic building of the Russian architect Boris Bernaskoni which on seven floors houses a conference center, start-ups, and offices of Skolkovo partner companies such as Siemens, IBM, and Cisco. Siemens technologies make the building especially energy efficient.
