The Jiangsu Rudong Offshore Wind Power Plant began operation in May 2012 and is Siemens' first order for offshore wind power outside Europe. Siemens has installed 21 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines off the coast of the Rudong district in the East China Sea having a total output of approximately 50 megawatts (MW). Completion of the project is an important step for Siemens in China's fast-growing wind energy market. The customer is Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of one of the world's largest wind energy project developers, China Longyuan Power Group Corporation Ltd. The scope of delivery also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement.
