Pop, crackle and bang
The Spencer Technical Group based in Las Vegas is a specialist in the field of control panels for pyrotechnical systems used in concerts. For control and synchronization, the manufacturer relies on technology from the Siemens Industry Automation Division. Based on controls from the Simatic S7-1200 series, the company has succeeded in significantly improving safety and driving down its engineering input and costs by around 30 percent.
Siemens at the Hannover Messe 2013
Under the banner of "Integrated Industry", this year's Hannover Messe will be casting the spotlight on growing integration across every branch of industry when it opens its doors on April 8 – 12, 2013. Siemens will be taking up this theme with its own booth motto of "Making things right: Connecting productivity and efficiency" at the leading industrial trade fair, presenting an array of technologies and solutions focusing on vertical IT and software as well as energy.
Siemens technology sets world’s largest giant wheel in motion
At the beginning of January, the world’s largest transportable giant wheel was erected in Munich and is shortly due to be shipped by sea to its destination in Mexico. The R80XL, a giant rising 80 meters in height, is completely equipped with automation technology from Siemens. The scope of delivery includes Simatic-S7 control technology, drive technology including motors and low-voltage power distribution.
New automation standard for the mining industry
The Siemens Industry Automation Division has developed the Minerals Automation Standard to address the specific requirements in the mining industry. The standard uses the latest version 8.0 of the Simatic PCS 7 process control system as system platform, expanded to include the specific automation functions required in mining applications.
