Siemens turbocompressors to provide energy efficient wastewater treatment at projects in U.S. and Mexico
Siemens Energy has received several orders for turbocompressors for wastewater treatment in the U.S. and Mexico. For the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant in Rolla, Missouri, Siemens will deliver new direct drive turbocompressors that will provide compressed ambient air to meet the biological oxygenation needs at the city-owned facility.
STC-DO compressor for waste water treatment
For the purchaser Aguas Tradtadas del Valle de Mexico S.A. de C.V., Siemens will deliver 18 compressors for the wastewater treatment plant PTAR Atotonilco, located in Atotonilco de Tula in the Mexican province of Hidalgo. In addition, Siemens also will supply a single STC-DO turbocompressor to the Northwest Wastewater Technology Plant demonstration site in Springfield, Missouri. The City of Springfield will operate the plant.
New direct drive turbocompressors for the Southeast WWTP will replace existing multistage blowers used to compress atmospheric air for the wastewater treatment plant. Equipment was procured through Siemens Building Technologies using an Energy Service Contract where capital improvements are financed through the operational/energy savings. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in early 2012.
The Siemens scope of supply for the wastewater treatment plant in Mexico encompasses 15 STC-GO compressors, each with a capacity of 45,714 Nm3 per hour, as well as three grit removal blowers each with a capacity of 9,256 Nm3 per hour. Delivery of the equipment is scheduled to start in the spring of 2012.
For the demonstration site in Springfield, Siemens will deliver a direct drive turbocompressor for the wastewater treatment facility. A new STC-DO (5-SF-A) machine will be installed and operated, allowing the city to experience the benefits associated with a more efficient blower system. Together with the City of Springfield, Siemens can showcase, test, and further develop current and newly evolving energy efficient wastewater technologies.
