Siemens presents key components for electromobility at the Hanover Fair

At this year’s Hanover Fair Siemens is presenting key components for electromobility as part of the Mobilitec tradeshow lineup. These components include newly developed charging stations as an integral feature of a future charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and the requisite software and IT.

New geared motors for conveyor systems

The Siemens Drive Technologies Division is supplementing its Motox geared motors with a new range of worm gears featuring high efficiency and an extensive transmission range; they are particularly suitable for conveyor systems. The single-stage worm geared motor of the S range is available in the three frame sizes S08, S18 and S28, in a torque range from 18 to 80 Newton meters (Nm) and in a power range from 0.12 to 0.75 kilowatts (kW) (4-pole).

Failsafe, wireless operator control and monitoring via Rapid Roaming

The Siemens Industry Automation Division has improved the performance and equipment of its portable devices for wireless operator control and monitoring of machinery and plants, as well as enhancing them with additional functions. For safety-oriented applications, the Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN communicates via a Rapid Roaming process in order to ensure interruption-free transmission of the wireless signals.

Powerful standard 24V power supply for three-phase networks

The Siemens Industry Automation Division has expanded its Sitop smart series of power supplies with a 24V unit with 3-phase connection. The Sitop PSU300S is designed for standard regulated 24V direct voltage requirements for machinery and plants.

Software controllers for PC-based automation now with web diagnostics function

The Siemens Industry Automation Division has further developed its software controllers with real-time capability for PC-based automation. In addition to expanded Profinet functions for a higher application quality, the new version of Simatic WinAC RTX 2010 and the fail-safe variant WinAC RTX F 2010 have now also been provided with new, simplified diagnostics options.

More performance and expanded functions for mid-range and high-range controllers

The Siemens Industry Automation Division has expanded its portfolio of mid-range and high-range S7-300 and S7-400 Simatic controllers and improved their performance. A new firmware, with Profinet functions such as isochronous mode, I Device, Shared Device and Media Redundancy Protocol, and an integrated web server expand the functionality and application fields of the controllers significantly.

South German waterpark saves energy with ECON Pool: quality-sensitive regulation of water circulation rate reduces power consumption by 45 percent

Neufun waterpark in Neufahrn near Munich, Germany, has been using the ECON Pool energy saving concept developed by Siemens Water Technologies for five years. This is based on the minimum possible amounts of energy and disinfectant to treat the swimming pool water so that it meets the quality requirements defined in the German standard DIN 19463. Quality-sensitive regulation of the circulation pumps for three swimming pools has alone reduced average power consumption by 45 percent, amounting to 130,000 kilowatt hours a year.
