Siemens wins German Industry's Innovation Award

On February 11, 2012, Siemens received the German Industry's Innovation Award in the large companies category. The award was presented in recognition of the world-record efficiency of 60.75 percent, which Siemens achieved with its new H-Class gas turbine in combined cycle duty at the Ulrich Hartmann power plant in Irsching, Bavaria. Günther Oettinger, EU Energy Commissioner, presented the award to Michael Suess, CEO of the Energy Sector and member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG.

Siemens receives German Industry's Innovation Award - Award for world's most efficient gas turbine power plant

Siemens has received the German Industry's Innovation Award in the large companies category. The award was won by the Siemens H-Class gas turbine, which holds the world efficiency record at 60.75 percent in combined cycle duty. The award in recognition of the outstanding innovation was presented in Frankfurt on Saturday by Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main at a gala event held in the Palais Thurn und Taxis.

Trail-blazing power plant technology - Siemens pushes world record in efficiency to over 60 percent while achieving maximum operating flexibility

Ten years after launching the ambitious innovation program for a new generation of its H- class gas turbine, Siemens has now achieved a new world record in power plant efficiency with the SGT5-8000H gas turbine at the Irsching 4 plant. With an output of more than 578 megawatts (MW) and an efficiency level of 60.75% (net), Siemens has markedly surpassed the targeted efficiency mark of "more than 60%" during the test phase, making history in the field of power plant technology.
