Less than nine months from signature to caster start-up – New billet caster concept from Siemens shortens project time

A new billet caster concept with a designed throughput rate of maximum 400,000 t/a was developed by Siemens VAI that enables quality products to be cast with economy billet casters commensurate with local market conditions. On the basis of a reengineered plant design, complimented by an extended logistics and sourcing network, billet casting projects can be completed more quickly, efficiently and at lower costs in comparison with conventional engineering and plant-building concepts.

Siemens to couple pickling line to tandem mill in ArcelorMittal's Bremen cold-rolling mill to optimize delivery times and improve surface quality

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received an order from the German steel producer ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH to supply the mechanical equipment required to couple the pickling line to the tandem mill at its Bremen plant. This will reduce both costs and delivery times.

Siemens develops single stand reversing cold mill for small to medium production capacities

With the new Siroll CM reversing cold mill, Siemens VAI Metals Technologies offers steel producers a compact system for the production of cold rolled strip in quantities of between 200,000 and 250,000 tonnes per year. The reversing cold mill has a 6-high mill stand and is designed for the processing of a wide variety of steel types.
