I was fascinated by Siemens as one of the largest and definitely most international companies in the world. Despite my mathematics background, I didn’t want to work in a pure finance surrounding (investment banking, risk consulting, insurance…) like most of my colleagues from university now do. With Siemens, I expected to join a company that delivers real, tangible value to its customers, with innovative products, projects, and solutions that the employees are proud of.
I started my career with Siemens as the very first associate of the Finance Excellence Program. In my assignments I for example worked as a commercial manager for projects in different branches of the Siemens Industry Sector. From the very first day I was challenged by taking on responsibility for ‘my’ projects. But don’t expect your manager to be satisfied with just your day-to-day work: I had a lot of interesting special topics to deal with, and tasks varied from asset management to international tax issues!
During the FEP I really got to know what team spirit means within Siemens. Especially in the very operative business of project execution with tight time schedules, demanding customers and suppliers, and a huge load of work in critical situations I experienced a great culture of teamwork and support between the colleagues.
A little rebellion now and then is a good thing.
