My motivation to join the Siemens Graduate Program was twofold. Firstly, I joined the SGP because I consider the program structure and the development support during the program unique. Secondly, I wanted to join the SGP because it offers an ideal opportunity to get to know an exciting company like Siemens, which offers a product portfolio that is of high social relevance.
I consider the SGP unique because of the program structure and the development support throughout the program. The program lasts two years, with three assignments each lasting eight months. This allows me to spend more time in each assignment compared to other programs that I have seen. More time per assignment means I can take on more interesting tasks, take on more responsibility, and increase my value added.Furthermore I am supported by a mentor who coaches me and a number of valuable trainings that are relevant to my daily work and allow me to reflect on my progress. In summary, the SGP provides an incredible opportunity to build the groundwork for a successful career at Siemens.
In both of the first two assignments I was able take on responsibility for project modules and even entire projects. Currently, I am heading a sales project through which we want to enter a long-term partnership with a customer and realize considerable sales volume over the next ten years.
The most rewarding experience for me so far has been to see at client visits how our products and services exactly fit the clients’ needs, make their eyes shine, and ultimately help to improve healthcare.
The SGP trainings have been great because they have provided me with tools and concepts that I can apply in my daily work. Furthermore, they have been a great opportunity to share experiences with other SGPers and learn from each other.
Through my Mentor I got to develop a trusting relationship with a member of the senior management. My Mentor has been of great help for example by providing guidance, input as well as contacts during the planning of my assignments. He also challenged me and my way of thinking when we worked together during my first assignment. It is great to have someone who accompanies me through the program and offers support whenever needed.
The SGP is a great opportunity to experience different areas of the Siemens world, challenge yourself, and build up a network with incredible individuals and the groundwork for a lasting career at Siemens.
