Hannover Messe 2017, April 24 – 28,2017

Hall 9, Booth D35

Welcome to Hannover Messe

How Digital Enterprises can gain a competitive edge

Grab the opportunities offered by digitalization and gain a competitive edge – to achieve this, Siemens is helping the industry with its extensive expertise in the fields of electrification, automation, and digitalization. Under the motto “Ingenuity for life – Driving the Digital Enterprise” at Hannover Messe 2016, Siemens presented tangible solutions and use cases in its 3,500-m2 booth that demonstrate how companies can benefit from convergence of the real and virtual worlds. Another important topic in the context of the Digital Enterprise was the energy supply of the future, in which economic viability, climate protection, and a reliable power supply must be ensured.

Thank you for your visit to Hall 9 and we look forward to seeing you at Hannover Messe 2017!

Guided Tour

Watch again our guided tour video of this year’s trade-fair appearance to get a first impression of our main topics and highlights. The journey to Industrie 4.0 requires that systems and processes in the Digital Enterprise be comprehensively and uniformly optimized across the entire lifecycle of products and plants. Siemens offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and solutions to meet these challenges. We also demonstrated how the industry takes on an active role in an energy system and is efficiently using energy.

Highlight Cubes

Where the virtual and the real world meet

Siemens presented tangible solutions and use cases in four highlight cubes that demonstrate how companies can benefit from convergence of the real and virtual worlds.

Sustainable energy for digital companies

The process and manufacturing industries require a reliable, safe and efficient energy supply. A key topic at Hannover Messe 2016 was sustainable energy supply in the future, since flexible production capacities and energy consumption increasingly also require flexible and integrated energy systems. To ensure economic feasibility, protect the environment, and provide a reliable power supply, the integration of renewable energy and the increasingly decentralized power generation must be controlled with intelligent systems. This can only be done on the basis of digital technologies. In the “Energy for Industry” highlight cube, visitors to the trade fair could experience how the industry benefits from these solutions, uses energy efficiently, and plays an active role in the energy system.

Digitalization creates new opportunities for the fiber industry

Increasing digitalization is forcing the paper industry to reorganize and position itself as the fiber industry, due to the decrease in demand for paper. At Hannover Messe 2016, Siemens demonstrated that digitalization also offers many opportunities. New types of fiber products can replace oil-based materials and thereby give the fiber industry new business models as well as help it save valuable resources such as water and wood. In the “Fiber Industry” highlight cube, Siemens demonstrated a paper factory model, including a control room where the processes are controlled and monitored. In the control room, visitors could learn which information that can be read from the model, the evaluations that can be prepared on this basis, and the interventions that can be made into the processes via the console. The model status was displayed on the monitor as a virtual twin and the visitors could interactively call up additional information about the model on a touch table in the control room.

Moving toward individualized mass production

At Hannover Messe 2016, Siemens presented concrete solutions and products that have been made possible through the industrialization of additive manufacturing. In a highlight cube, visitors could experience three production methods that illustrate the advantages that end-to-end digitalization and automation with integrated components offer for additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing enables the direct generative production of three-dimensional physical objects based on digital information (CAD/CAM data). Siemens vividly demonstrated three different additive manufacturing methods. They illustrated how workpieces move from design to machine processing to integration into series production. The material and the required precision of the end product are what determine the choice of the production method. In all methods, the workpieces are built up layer by layer.

Automotive manufacturers: on the fast track with digitalization

When it comes to producing cars, the automotive industry needs a holistic approach, both today and in the future, that covers the entire lifecycle of product and production. This applies, in particular, to the increasing digitalization of automobile production. Siemens is the only company that has a portfolio containing the right products and solutions for all aspects – from product ideas to the finished vehicle – and provides the electrical infrastructure at the same time. At Hannover Messe 2016 Siemens demonstrated this in its “Automotive” highlight cube. There, an interactive car model gave visitors an x-ray like view into the car and related production steps.

image

Driving the American sports industry

The demand for smarter, more connected, and personalized products is driving fast and continuous innovation in the sporting goods industry. The U.S. Sports Zone illustrates how American companies are using Siemens software to overcome the biggest challenges in their markets and bring ingenuity to their products – so that they can improve their customers’ experiences. The Sports Zone at Hannover Messe focused on “Ingenuity for Life” in American sports. It highlighted how American companies involved in the development of groundbreaking sports products use Siemens Industry Software to overcome the key innovation challenges in their industries.
