Siemens’ SWT-2.3-120: Made for American needs

The SWT-2.3-120 builds on the achievements of Siemens’ proven G2 product platform, one of the most robust and successful turbine lines of all time with close to 8,000 units installed globally.

Siemens’ SWT-3.3-130. The new medium to low wind benchmark

Built on the D3 platform and combining proven technology with innovation, this wind turbine is perfect for delivering greater returns in low wind conditions. Wind Power Monthly’s annual review of the industry’s best new product awarded this turbine Gold in the 3MW-Plus category.

Siemens’ SWT-7.0-154. For a reliable investment offshore

A cost-efficient solution: As an upgrade of Siemens’ 6 MW direct drive offshore wind turbine, the SWT-7.0-154 retains the basic structure and the advantages of its predecessor – but its power output is up ten percent.

Connected thinking – Explore our service wind portfolio

Consistency is essential for optimum return on investment throughout a wind power plant’s lifetime. We have redesigned our service portfolio and give you the flexibility to choose from a broad range of intelligent and innovative services.

Reliable Products – Optimized Performance

With more than 30 years of experience in wind energy, Siemens has the knowledge to cope with the most complex site conditions. We designed several solutions to allow our customers to optimize their wind farm and maximize production around the globe.

Advanced Interconnection Features of Wind Power Plants

Many system operators and utilities are assessing the need for continued operation of their fossil fleet in consideration of the Clean Air Act. They take into account higher relative cost of coal as a fuel, compared with gas and renewables. In this session, Robert J. Nelson addressed the additional concern about the basic ancillary services that have been provided by fossil units, such as frequency regulation, voltage regulation, automatic generation control, spinning reserve, and standby reserves.

Dynamic Wind Solution

With the growing wind energy market, grid operators and regulatory agencies have increased the requirements for meteorogical data reported from sites in their territories. This could be accomblished by installing a meteorogical tower that reports wind speed and direction at hub height through a data logger connected to the SCADA network. However, there might be requirements to provide data from multiple locations at the wind park. Albert Leyte-Vidal gave an insight into possible solutions.

SCADA Cyber Security for Wind Power Plants

SCADA systems of wind power plants are connected to remote control centers. Grid operators apply digital technologies to monitor, control and protect the wind turbine equipment and systems. As wind power plants are part of the bulk electric system in North America, they are subject to federal regulations and standards which include cyber security requirements (NERC CIPs). Bill Clark highlighted how Siemens can contribute to cyber security.
