Certificate type and validation procedures
Certificates issued within the Siemens Public Key Infrastructure ("Siemens PKI") conform to the X.509 v.3 standard ("Siemens Certificates").
Validation procedures are set forth in the Siemens Issuing CA(s) Certification Practice Statement ("CPS"), related Certificate Policy ("CP") for the internal Siemens Community ("CP 1") and external Known Business Partner Community ("CP 2") and/or in other applicable Siemens policies (CPS, CP 1, CP 2 and other applicable policies, collectively referred to as "Siemens Issuing CA Policies") and agreements. Requests to the above-listed "CA contact information" office for copies of the current version of Siemens Issuing CA Policies may be granted as necessary and appropriate.
Usage and reliance limits
Subject to the disclaimer and limitation of liability set forth below, Siemens Certificates may be used for electronic signature, authentication, integrity, and confidentiality purposes in transaction within Siemens and between Siemens and its business partners. The legal effect of using a Siemens Certificate in a transaction shall be determined in accordance with applicable law and any relevant agreement.
Any other use or reliance upon Siemens Certificates is limited to persons or entities who have a current and valid business relationship with a Siemens entity and who are contractually bound to comply with Siemens Issuing CA Policies ("Authorized Relying Parties"). The terms and conditions under which an Authorized Relying Party may rely upon a Siemens Certificate are set forth in applicable Siemens Issuing CA Policies and/or Authorized Relying Party agreement.
Obligations of Persons Holding Siemens Certificates ("Subscribers")
Subscriber obligations are set forth in the relevant agreement pursuant to which the Subscriber obtained a Siemens Certificate.
Certificate status checking obligations of Authorized Relying Parties
Certificate status checking obligations of Authorized Relying Parties are set forth in the applicable Siemens Issuing CA Policies and/or Authorized Relying Party agreements.
Disclaimer / Limitation of liability
Except as explicitly provided in an applicable agreement with an Authorized Relying Party or Subscriber, Siemens Issuing CA(s) expressly disclaim all representations, warranties (express or implied) and liability - except for willful misconduct or gross negligence - concerning the functionality, issuance, use, validity, or accuracy of Siemens Certificates, including the identity of any person named by a Siemens Certificate or their authority to act on behalf of Siemens.
Applicable agreements, Certification Practice Statement, Certificate Policy
Policies concerning the issuance and use of Certificates are contained in the applicable Siemens Issuing CA Policies, Authorized Relying Party agreements, or Subscriber agreements.
Privacy policy
Privacy policy for certificate applications and Siemens Certificates are contained in applicable Siemens Issuing CA Policies and contractual agreements between or among Siemens entities, Authorized Relying Parties, and Subscribers.

Applicable law and dispute resolution
Applicable law and dispute resolution provisions are in accordance with applicable Siemens Issuing CA Policies and contractual agreements between or among Siemens entities, Authorized Relying Parties, or Subscribers.
CA and repository licenses, trust marks, and audit
The Siemens PKI is audited and certified in accordance with BS 7799-2 (2000), "Requirements Specifications for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)".
