In fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011), Siemens’ sales to customers in the UK amounted to EUR 3.496 billion and new orders totaled EUR 3.946 billion. Siemens currently has around 12,839 employees in the UK.

Siemens' activities in the UK date back to 1843, with early successes for the company including laying the first undersea cable between Great Britain and the United States and installing the first electric street lighting system. Today, Siemens provides essential services across key sectors of the UK economy.

Siemens’ Industry Automation Division was awarded contracts for control and communication technology for the baggage handling systems at China's Kunming Airport. The Drive Technologies Division received orders for hybrid bus drives from the bus manufacturer Optare. The Building Technologies Division secured orders from National Grid for security technologies and the Formula 1 team, Red Bull Racing, placed orders for building efficiency technology.
