Recent activities include the launch of The Crystal in September 2012 – Siemens’ EUR 35 million global center for urban sustainability, located in East London. Siemens’ Energy Service Division expanded its wind power training infrastructure, investing an additional EUR 1.23 million in a new 3.6 MW training nacelle at Newcastle.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in the U.K. amounted to around EUR 3.97 billion and new orders totaled almost EUR 3.14 billion.

Siemens’ Power Transmission Division signed a multi-million pound interconnector project, called Western Link, to provide transmission capability between Scotland and the West of England. A new order for a combined heat and power waste-to-energy plant was signed to meet the heating requirements of Plymouth’s naval base. Siemens’ Wind Power Division announced the successful completion and handover to SSE Renewables of the Griffin wind farm.
