In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amounted to more than EUR 1.151 billion and new orders totaled EUR 925.4 million. Siemens has around 2,320 employees in key locations across the UAE’s seven emirates, including a transformer manufacturing site in Abu Dhabi.

Siemens has been active in the United Arab Emirates since the 1970s, and Siemens LLC was formed in 1999. Siemens has made substantial contributions to many of the UAE’s key infrastructure projects over the last 40 years, including major power and water facilities such as the Jebel Ali G complex.

Siemens’ Energy Service Division won long-term contracts to service Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) newest power plant, the Jebel Ali M-Station. The facility, located in Dubai, comprises a 2,000-MW combined cycle power plant and a desalination plant with a capacity of 140 million imperial gallons per day. With a secured combined order value of approximately EUR 350 million, the 12-year service and parts contracts are one of Siemens' biggest service agreements in the region. The agreement includes an option for extending the service period.
