Siemens Sweden was founded in Stockholm in 1893, with 14 employees. The company’s initial involvement in Sweden dates back even further – to 1853, when the country’s first telegraph lines (from Stockholm to Gothenburg and from Stockholm to Malmö) were provided by Siemens & Halske (S&H).
Siemens continued to establish itself in Sweden’s onshore wind power market. The company won an order to supply 123 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 369 MW for the Ögonfägnaden and Björkhöjden wind farms. The farms will be built by Statkraft SCA Vind AB, a European leader in the renewable energy field. Siemens also won a large order worth EUR 24.8 million from Svenska Kraftnät, the operator of Sweden’s national power grid, to supply 400-kV substations in Nybro and Hagby on a turnkey basis.
