The company has been active in Singapore since 1908. It has built over one-third of Singapore’s power plants and supplied more than 50 percent of the medical diagnostic equipment used in the country’s hospitals and clinical laboratories. Siemens has undertaken a first-of-its-kind study to benchmark a Singapore town’s energy use.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Singapore amounted to around EUR 435.7 million and new orders totaled more than EUR 496.8 million. Siemens currently has about 2,150 employees in Singapore.
Siemens’ activities in Singapore date back to 1908, when the company opened a technical office to provide sales support for London-based Siemens Brothers Dynamo Works Ltd. Today, the company continues to be a major investor and a key player in Singapore’s engineering, electronics, biomedical and media industries.
Siemens continued to maintain its pole position in the energy industry by winning another power plant order. The company will be supplying the power block and main components for the new 411-MW combined cycle power plant at Tuaspring, the largest seawater desalination facility in Singapore. The order also includes a long-term service and maintenance contract.
