Siemens has been active in Romania for more than 105 years and has developed a solid partnership with the country. Siemens’ Wind Power Division signed a contract with GDF SUEZ Energy Romania worth EUR 70 million for the delivery and installation of 21 wind turbines, 2.3 MW each, at the Gemenele wind farm. The service activities for this contract are provided by the Oil & Gas Division and are worth EUR 16 million. The service contract is for a period of 13 years.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Romania amounted to almost EUR 331 million and new orders totaled more than EUR 261.1 million. Siemens currently has about 1,665 employees in Romania.
Siemens’ activities in Romania date back to 1905, when the “Romanian Power Company Siemens-Schuckert” was founded in Bucharest to generate high-voltage current. Today, the company offers the full Siemens portfolio and serves the entire country with the help of a comprehensive regionalization policy.
In the field of power transmission, the Energy Sector won contracts for several important projects, including the delivery of electrical equipment for Targusor 1 and 3 electrical stations, a project valued at more than EUR 3 million. Both electrical stations will collect energy produced by the Siemens wind turbines and supply it to Enel Green Power Romania, a subsidiary of Enel Green Power, which is dedicated to the development and management of power generation from renewable resources.
