Fiscal 2012 saw the opening of a new sustainable office building for the Oil & Gas Division in Hengelo (near the Dutch-German border). Siemens launched the Electric Sports Car Build-Off (ESCBO), an initiative in which four universities of applied sciences and three solution providers are competing to build the best electric sports car.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in the Netherlands amounted to almost EUR 1.3 billion and new orders totaled over EUR 814.4 million. Siemens currently has about 2,990 employees in the Netherlands.
The history of Siemens in the Netherlands dates back to 1852. Five years after Siemens was founded in Germany, the company’s first products were sold in Holland: 16 telegraph systems were delivered to the National Telegraph Office in the Netherlands. Siemens established its first representative office in The Hague in 1879. Today, 133 years later, Siemens in the Netherlands has developed into a strong and highly respected group of companies.
Siemens will implement an energy management and information system in three buildings of the European Patent Office in The Hague and Munich. Siemens also won a service and maintenance contract for fire safety at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. For the city of The Hague, the company will deliver 40 Avenio trams in 2014.
