Siemens’ currently has a Representative Office (SAGO) in Moldova with four employees. Business prospects in Republic Moldavia are particularly good in the fields of healthcare and infrastructure modernization.
In fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011), Siemens’ sales to customers in the Republic of Moldova amounted to EUR 3.3 million and new orders totaled EUR 3 million.
After being present in the Republic of Moldova with its products and solutions for some time, Siemens established its first Regional Company here, Siemens S.R.L., in 1997. In 2009, the Regional Company was reorganized as the Siemens AG Representative Office for the Republic of Moldova.
The second phase of the Chisinau International Airport modernization, with direct financing by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of approximately EUR 50 million, is still Siemens’ biggest project as the main sub supplier of electrical equipment for the remaining taxiways and the apron in Chisinau. Siemens is actively participating in the first renewable energy investment project in the republic of Moldova – a 50 MW wind farm to be built in the south part of the country. Siemens has completed delivery of the medical equipment to the private medical center in Chisinau, Centrul Diagnostic German (CDG), the biggest in the country, supplying it with the first magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) system MAGNETOM Skyra (3 Tesla) to be installed in the Central and Eastern Europe countries.
