Over the years, Siemens has invested more than EUR 9.2 billion in Malaysia’s development.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Malaysia amounted to EUR 250.2 million and new orders totaled more than EUR 260.3 million. Siemens currently has about 840 employees in Malaysia.
In its nearly 40 years in Malaysia, Siemens has played an active role in developing Malaysian communities and has contributed significantly to the country’s dynamic economic and social growth. The company is now Malaysia’s second-largest Germany-based enterprise.
Siemens created a reference project for the ASEAN Region. Petronas Gas Berhad, a renowned local oil & gas corporation, commissioned Siemens to install and put into operation the upgrade of the electrical, instrumentation and control systems at the centralized utilities facilities in the coastal towns of Gebeng and Kerteh. The scope also includes revamping the current system used by the customer, including substation control and power management systems.
