Since 1959, Siemens has been a constructive and reliable partner in Kuwait, making a substantial contribution to the development of the country’s infrastructure. More than 120 high- and medium-voltage substations and the 1,600 MW combined-cycle Az-Zour power plant from Siemens are currently ensuring reliability for the country’s power supply. Siemens EES actively supports the country’s Kuwaitization program, which underscores the country’s strategy of reducing its reliance on oil income in the future. It also actively supports the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and INJAZ Kuwait, part of the international non-profit NGO Junior Achievement Worldwide (JA).
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Kuwait amounted to more than EUR 160.2 million and new orders totaled over EUR 149.3 million. Siemens’ local joint venture Siemens Electrical and Electronic Services K.S.C.C. currently has around 255 employees in Kuwait.
Since 1959, Siemens has been a constructive and reliable partner in Kuwait, making a substantial contribution to the development of the country’s infrastructure. In 1979, Siemens continued its activities under the name of National & German Electrical and Electronic Services Company (NGEECO). In fiscal 2005, NGEECO was renamed Siemens Electrical and Electronic Services (Siemens EES), reflecting Siemens’ desire to further expand and strengthen its business relationship with Kuwait. These efforts have been very successful.
In fiscal 2012, Kuwait University Health Sciences Center became the first in the region to start using the Siemens TRUGENE HIV 1-Genotyping Assay for HIV-1 resistance testing and research, with trials starting in May. The system provides the most clinically relevant information for monitoring HIV-1 resistance in patients. This is a significant milestone in HIV research on HIV mutations in the region as these research findings will also contribute to international research on treating HIV.
