The company announced a business growth plan to double the direct business in Korea by fiscal 2016. Siemens will fund a total of EUR 592,880 for the Northeast Asia Business Integrity School (NABIS) program with the Federation of Korean Industries-International Management Institute (FKI-IMI) in Korea, as part of Siemens worldwide Integrity Initiative program.
In fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011), Siemens’ sales to customers in Korea amounted to EUR 1.01 billion and new orders totaled EUR 1.31 billion. Siemens currently has about 2,000 employees in Korea.
Siemens’ activities in Korea date back to the 1960s, when the company participated in rebuilding the country’s infrastructure following the Korean War. Since then, Siemens has substantially expanded its business activities. As a good corporate citizen, Siemens in Korea has run the "Siemens Caring Hands Ai SaRang KiKeum" program for supporting single-parent children since 2007.
Siemens received an order from GS Electric Power and Services (GS EPS) to supply its latest high-efficiency H Class gas turbine for the first time in Asia. Siemens celebrated the shipment of 20,000 ultrasound units in 2011. The company produces 60 percent of its global supply of ultrasound systems in Korea.
