Since 1900, when it was first represented in Greece, Siemens has contributed significantly to the country’s industrial and technological development, strengthening the Greek economy and modernizing its infrastructure. During this time, Siemens has been one of the most reliable investors in Greece, leveraging the country’s strengths and promoting the transfer of expertise and technology and the development of local added value.
The Infrastructure & Cities Sector scored a major success by signing a EUR 41 million contract with Attiko Metro for the signaling extension for seven new stations to be added to the two existing metro lines serving the extended Athens metropolitan area. The project is partly funded by European structural funds. Siemens also further strengthened its leading position in the field of urban transport solutions by winning the maintenance and operation contracts for the Athens Traffic Management System and Traffic Control Center.
