Siemens delivered a computed tomography (CT) system and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system to the Estonian Forensic Science Institute. The equipment accelerates the process of identifying unknown individuals and determining the cause of death. The CT and MRI scanning device is unique for forensic science units in Europe. Estonia is the second country after Switzerland with a CT and MRI scanner for forensic pathologists. Many forensic pathology centers in Europe are forced to use hospital equipment to perform virtual autopsies. The advantage of the equipment installed at the Forensic Science Institute is its ease of use.
