In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), Siemens’ sales to customers in Bolivia amounted to approximately EUR 29 million and new orders totaled nearly EUR 97 million. Siemens currently has about 25 employees in Bolivia.

Siemens has been active in Bolivia for more than a century through its representative company Hansa. The Company signed the first representative contract with Hansa in 1972. Siemens Bolivia, together with the German-Bolivian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Bolivia), organized an event entitled Ethics, Transparency and Best Practices in Bolivian Companies with participants from the private and public sector.

The Empresa Nacional de Electricidad Corporation (ENDE), the state-owned public electrical company in Bolivia, awarded Siemens a contract for the supply of four SGT-800-50MW gas turbine generators through its subsidiary ENDE Andina. These generators with a total power output of 160 MW will be installed in the new power generation plant “Termoeléctrica del Sur.” The plant will provide electricity to the southern provinces of the country and will also be connected to the national electrical grid to make it more reliable.
