With competence centers in each Sector, Siemens provides added value at both local and international levels. Among the beneficiaries are customers in the paper processing, steel and pharmaceutical industries. For many years now, Siemens BeLux has derived about 30 percent of its revenue from exports – mainly to Africa and the Middle East, in cooperation with the Africa and Middle East Clusters.
In fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011), Siemens’ sales to customers in BeLux amounted to EUR 964.4 million and new orders totaled EUR 693 million. Siemens currently has about 1,770 employees in BeLux.
Three years ago, Siemens Belgium celebrated its 110th anniversary, and in 2010 Siemens Luxembourg celebrated its centennial. Good corporate citizenship is firmly anchored in the corporate culture of Siemens BeLux. The company supports project initiatives, encourages young and creative entrepreneurship, and participates in a wide variety of professional and cultural associations.
In fiscal 2011, the sharp increase in the retrofit business for machine tools to a volume of over EUR 1.5 million confirmed the company as a European center of competence. The latest major retrofit project, for ASCO Industries, is worth a total of EUR 750,000.
