Siemens has been active in Belarus for nearly 160 years and holds leading positions in the Energy, Healthcare, Industry and Infrastructure & Cities Sectors. As a responsible corporate citizen, Siemens Belarus is involved in a variety of charitable programs and projects, including providing humanitarian aid for the Gomel region.
The Company also actively supports education in the country, providing assistance to universities and encouraging young people to pursue careers in science and technology. Siemens is a member of the official “German-Belarusian Business Council” and supports active dialog between the two countries to ensure knowledge transfer and discourse between the political and business spheres.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 – September 30, 2012), sales to customers in Belarus amounted to over EUR 140.5 million and new orders totaled EUR more than 86.7 million.
Siemens opened its representative office in Belarus in 1995. In May 2008, it was awarded the status of a representative office of Siemens LLC, Russia. In fiscal 2012, Siemens became an exclusive partner of the Belarusian Department of Energy Efficiency in the Energy Marathon, a competition for all schools and universities in Belarus to promote energy efficiency. Siemens also supported the Children’s Houses in Slutsk and Bobruisk and a special school for handicapped children in Uzda.
The Oil & Gas Division maintained its market share by signing new contracts for 70 MW of power generation equipment. Siemens also signed its first contract for steam turbines produced by Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment GmbH. The Sector maintained its position as the main supplier of power generation solutions for the potash company Belaruskalii, one of the key players in the Belarus economy.Siemens’ Healthcare Sector maintained its market share and supplied the Belarusian public health authorities with computed tomography and ultrasound equipment. The Healthcare Sector also entered the national market for diagnostic equipment, winning two tenders during the fiscal year.
