In fiscal 2012, the Board of Directors of Siemens AG confirmed Angola as one of the markets with the greatest growth potential in Africa. Siemens has been building its team by recruiting local and international talent. For the oil industry, Siemens provided training to Angolan engineers – who were eager to enhance their skills in engineering and project management – at the Siemens Training Academy in Brazil.
In fiscal 2012 (October 1, 2011 - September 30, 2012), Siemens' sales to customers in Angola amounted to more than EUR 37 million and new orders totaled almost EUR 51 million.
Siemens currently has about 16 employees in Angola and actively contributes to the technological, social and economic development of Angola. Siemens Angola moved to its new headquarters in Talatona, an investment made possible by the company’s strong results in the country.
Siemens has been operating in Angola since the 1960s. During the civil war, the Company's presence dwindled. In 2005, it returned to the country with its main focus on telecommunications, and in 2010, Siemens Angola became an independent Regional Company in Africa.
In the healthcare area, Siemens installed in the Clínica do Girassol the most modern and advanced equipment of Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance, SOMATOM Definition Flash and MAGNETOM Skyra. Additionally, this healthcare facility started to offer its patients exams in the area of Nuclear Medicine, with the support of Siemens’ specialists.
